Jeanne Shymanski
March 6, 1931 - May 4, 2016

At the age of 85, Jeanne began her long awaited reunion and final adventure with the love of her life Michael, her predeceased husband of 53 years.  ~ Together Forever ~

Jeanne Jennette Wroe was born in Lloydminster, Alberta. The family lived in the Alberta towns of McLaughlin, Chauvin, and Big Valley. She was quite the adventurer in her adolescence and enjoyed horseback riding, riding motorcycles and flying airplanes.

It was in Big Valley that Jeanne met Michael Shymanski. They married on Michael’s Birthday, June 6, 1951. He built their home next door to Jeanne’s family and they created their retail venture ‘Esquire Mens Wear’. In 1956 they moved to the ‘New Town of Hinton’ where Michael constructed their mens wear store building in the valley across from the Athabasca Valley Hotel. Jeanne and Michael enjoyed camping hiking and photography in their Rocky Mountain backyard.

Jeanne was well read, knowledgeable and creative with a keen sense of humor and a sharp business mind. During her later years, she wintered in Mesa, Arizona (1981-1996) and enjoyed playing Bridge and Crib with the Hinton Good Companions. Jeanne will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is lovingly remembered by daughter Lori (Tim) Wilcox of Hinton, Alberta; grandson Ryan Wilcox of Red Deer; sister Mary (Richard) Hubert of Stettler; Niece Debora (Ron) VanLanduyt of Botha; nephew Kim (Christine) Hubert of Erskine; Niece Susan (Rudy) Posma of Bentley; sister-in-law Betty Wroe of Edmonton; Niece Denise (Craig) Green of Edmonton; sister Darlene Hrabchuk of Prince George, BC; nephews Casey and Vance Hrabchuk of Calgary as well as numerous extended family members.

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Michael; parents Francis (Frank) and Elsie Wroe; brother Dwayne Wroe; and brother-in-law Albert Hrabchuk.

A Graveside Service was attended by family and friends, officiated by Jeanne’s niece Debora VanLanduyt, on Monday, May 9, 2016. Tributes, if desired, may be made to The Hinton Good Companions or The Hinton & District SPCA in Jeanne’s Memory.

Lori, Tim, and Ryan,

Bess Wroe gave me the news about Jeanne and I just wanted to send my condolences to you all. Although I have not seen Jeanne in many years, I have such good memories of the time I spent with her. Kay Griffiths introduced me to Jeanne and we spent many evenings playing bridge, discussing what books we were reading while we sipped a drink or two.
She was a lovely lady and as I finish this, I shall celebrate her with a Scotch.
