Grief Support

In keeping with our commitment to the communities we serve, Tim Scaife, licensed Funeral Director and part owner of Mountain Rose Funeral Homes has initiated a local grief recovery program titled "Grief Relief... Stepping Past".

In speaking with the clients that we help and others interested in the program we have found that to serve others more effectively, we will be utilizing sessions with people or families with monthly meetings or by appointment.   Many people have expressed that a Monday time slot may not work for their schedules.

Let us serve you better by providing meeting times more suited to your needs.
Please feel free to call us and arrange a time when best suited for you.
Our first focus is helping those in need. Let us work with you to provide materials and guidance as you walk through the process from loss to life..

This is a free to all service and available in Hinton, Jasper, Edson and Grande Cache communities. This is a homegrown developed program to assist locals with the progression of loss to healing. This program is lead by a caring and compassionate individuals dedicated to the people of these communities.  Please contact Mountain Rose Funeral Homes to find out when the next session is slated for your area, and join us on the road to healing.

Tim Scaife and Mountain Rose Funeral Homes gives great thanks to the United Churches of Canada for providing a permanent meeting place for these programs. Without the support of the community, these programs could not flourish as they have.

Mountain Rose Funeral Homes Ltd. had initiated a lending library available to everyone in the communities we serve, at both the Edson and Hinton locations. This service is at no cost to the user and provides meaningful resource material for those suffering from loss directly, or helping those who need support. It is our hopes that this will help those who truly need it.

The materials collected represent some of the most helpful resources available, written by some of the most world renowned authors. Some of the titles we can provide are:

by author Doug Manning

Don't take my Grief Away  Superbly written helping persons recognize, identify and deal with the griefwork associated with loss.

Lean on Me Gently  A very well written book helping parents help their children in the grief process and help the child understand the feelings they are having. A great book for any parent, but geared more to the younger child recovery processes.

The Pain of Grief Series A well written four book collection identifying stages and key elements to help you or others on the road to healthy recovery from loss.

Common Threads of Teenage Grief  This book is wonderfully crafted by a middle school counsellor and nine teens who all share and relate the experiences of loss and guide others on the road to healing and recovery. This book is written by teenagers for teenagers and is very well put together with information and feelings that teens will need, to deal with and properly heal. A must for every parent that has a teen suffering with loss, and any teen dealing with grief.

by author Tammy Anderson

Losing Emily   This Jasper, Alberta resident has authored a truly informative and helpful guide for the mothers and families that suffer the unique loss of stillbirth. Tammy takes us through her family's pain in hopes to helping others who have to deal with this commonly misunderstood loss. A definately important book for any mother or family dealing with the loss of a stillbirth child.

Mountain Rose will continue to add to the existing library and in time offer many more titles and resources to the community. If there are related materials or books that your family  no longer needs or uses, and are in good condition, we would be delighted if they can be donated to this library in hopes of helping others heal. As a community we become stronger; as we help those that deal with loss achieve a healthy future.

The road to recovery should not need to be traveled alone, but with the support and help of all around.
